The People & The Place – Gold Coast is the latest remarkable activity by GCMAGIC amongst many previous projects celebrating Australia’s cultural diversity. The project represents our rich multicultural society through a showcase of traditional attire from various cultures around the world.
The People & The Place – Gold Coast is an innovative photo-painting exhibition. Selected professional photos of traditional attires representing 40 cultures on the Gold Coast are printed on canvasses. The visual arts team at GCMAGIC enhanced these images using paint creating photo-painting artwork. The focus of the exhibition is on the colourful diverse traditional attire from different cultures.
This project is the result of collaborative efforts by five visual artists from various cultural backgrounds and 40 cultural groups who enthusiastically participated in the photography sessions in 2022-2023. Such diverse groups of people create a harmonious society that beautifully embodies Australia’s multiculturalism. The colours of the clothing and attire come alive when our artists added a touch of paint, co-creating stunning and vibrant visual artwork.
